Launched on 1st February 2008, NEX-GEM is a 2-year project supported by the EPSRC INTRACT scheme.

To examine and analyze emerging concept, methodologies and tools to support next generation UK-India manufacturing supply chains in the digital economy.
In the Nex-Gem project each partner represents specific and unique disciplines and areas of competence and the interaction among them is critical to accomplish the integrated activities that will set the guidelines for the design of next generation logistics and supply chains in the digital economy. The core areas of expertise that each partner brings to the project include:
· Hull and Nottingham Universities, Logistics with expertise that extends to Operations Management and Product Design.
· Brunel University, Digital Enterprise and e-Manufacturing with competences that cover ICT tools and implementation.
· Loughborough University, Risk Analysis and further knowledge on Systems Modelling and ICT Tools and implementation.
· Cardiff University, Supply Chains and further expertise on Systems Modelling and Product Design.
Interdisciplinary exchanges and the input of each partner are required to complete the main activities defined in the programme of work for this project.
